     Introduction

    Après notre review du Schumacher Fireblade Evo, l’occasion nous est donnée de vous présenter à son tour un autre buggy 4x2 1/10 électrique pour qui la vie n’a pas été simple et qui n’est pas parvenu à s’imposer dans sa catégorie : l’Associated RC10 B2.

    Le RC10 B2 est sorti en 1995 et avait la TRES lourde tâche de remplacer la mythique Associated RC10 après des années de bons et loyaux services et plusieurs titres de Champion du Monde.

    Pour relever ce défi, Associated pris la décision de concevoir une nouvelle voiture et non plus une énième version du RC10, et la dota de solutions déjà éprouvées sur les 4x2 concurrents.

    Ainsi le RC10 B2 se distingue du RC10 par :
    - son châssis baignoire en matière composite et non plus en aluminium,
    - ses cellules avant et arrière étroites et dissociées du châssis,
    - ses triangles en composite allongé,
    - son bac à accus directement moulé dans le châssis,
    - son servo placé perpendiculairement à l’axe de la voiture,
    - sa platine au dessus du train avant,
    - sa fixation de l’aileron dans le support d’amortisseurs arrière,
    - etc…

    Au lancement de son RC10 B2, Associated n’avait jamais connu d’échec commercial, la marque était solidement positionnée en haut du podium et même si Losi grappillait du terrain sur le RC10, dans l’esprit d’Associated, le B2 ne pouvait qu’anéantir toute forme de concurrence.
    La Team Associated était même tellement sûr de son concept et de la réussite de son RC10 B2 que leur service Marketing garantissait l’efficacité du châssis sur tout les circuits sans effectuer le moindre réglage.
    Et pour continuer dans cette logique d’efficacité et de simplicité d’utilisation, Associated a même pris le risque de dépouiller son B2 de la plupart des options de réglages standard.

    Finalement, l’histoire retiendra qu’Associated a fait preuve d’un excès d’optimiste avec son RC10 B2, et que la marque a du rapidement corriger sa copie avec la sortie 2 ans plus tard du RC10 B3.
